Lance Armstrong rebuked the media on Sunday amidst a tumultuous interrogation regarding the use of doping agents in his series of cycling wins several years ago. Embattled with his former peers on the credence of those accusations, Armstrong himself challenged reporters about their lack of holistic coverage after the stage 9 results were announced and it was clear that the Tour had a new rider sporting the coveted pink tutu.
In recent weeks, the tour has had a jostling of lead changes between Mike Neeley and Chad Schut with Neeley being propelled forward after Schut returned home to care for his injured wife. Back on the Tour, Schut now is firmly holding the races 2nd spot and faces a grinding climb to recapture the lead now that he is down 80 1/2 miles from front runner, Mike Neeley, who still riding strong.
Meanwhile, stage 9 results show Steve Insley has surpassed Brian Neeley forcing a transition in the last spot and the tutu being passed along as we enter stage 10. The controversy lays with the ethics of passing on the tutu to Brian Neeley, the crippled rider who was injured during a ride back in stage 7.
The group's mid pack riders, Jerimie Ike and Brian Czarnecki continue to assess the best opportunity to create a breakaway from the two trailers who are now within one to two stages of creating havoc in the standings.Stage 10 began yesterday and concludes Saturday.
