Lance Comments as Insley Passes the Tutu in Stage 9 to a Cripple

Lance Armstrong rebuked the media on Sunday amidst a tumultuous interrogation regarding the use of doping agents in his series of cycling wins several years ago. Embattled with his former peers on the credence of those accusations, Armstrong himself challenged reporters about their lack of holistic coverage after the stage 9 results were announced and it was clear that the Tour had a new rider sporting the coveted pink tutu.

In recent weeks, the tour has had a jostling of lead changes between Mike Neeley and Chad Schut with Neeley being propelled forward after Schut returned home to care for his injured wife. Back on the Tour, Schut now is firmly holding the races 2nd spot and faces a grinding climb to recapture the lead now that he is down 80 1/2 miles from front runner, Mike Neeley, who still riding strong.

Meanwhile, stage 9 results show Steve Insley has surpassed Brian Neeley forcing a transition in the last spot and the tutu being passed along as we enter stage 10. The controversy lays with the ethics of passing on the tutu to Brian Neeley, the crippled rider who was injured during a ride back in stage 7.

The group's mid pack riders, Jerimie Ike and Brian Czarnecki continue to assess the best opportunity to create a breakaway from the two trailers who are now within one to two stages of creating havoc in the standings.Stage 10 began yesterday and concludes Saturday.

Tour de Tutu Stage 8 Results

We are 6.5 miles from the hand-off of the tutu to Brian Neeley who is currently on injured reserve. Brian- the recumbant bike counts!  There is an 18.5 mile gap in the race for the bronze. Rumor is Jerimie had that nearly covered by his morning commute.

Incident report 07-May-11 OCR-BNeeley

Command received distress call from OCR-BNeeley at 17:48 on 07 May indicating he had gone down in his assualt on the Cannonsburg Ski Hill. BNeeley indicated he had rang his bell and self diagnosed a possible fracture of the clavicle. OCR Neeley was advised to maintain a stealth position and make his way to rendezvous at the extraction site located 43.053 lat -85.469 long.

Command arrived to extraction zone at 17:56 and deployed medevac team to hill. OCR Neeley was located at approximately 18:05  in stable condition, tucked in fetal position with thumb in mouth whispering "don't let them cut the jersey". OCR Neeley and vehicle were recovered and promptly evacuated to OCR substation located at Ripley where he was forwarded to the medical facilities at Spectrum. Happy place was induced as depicted in this photo. OCR BNeeley expected to return to the unit within 4-6 weeks.

Tour de Tutu Stage 8 Results

Insley now sees his opportunity to transfer the tutu as a result of Brian's injured collar bone. The question is, will Brian down some happy pills and Jack Daniels and suffer through the trainer miles to fend him off? Time will tell. Jerimie is within 1 ride of being top 50th percentile and Czar took advantage of his first 2011 race and double miles to stay in position. Chad strapped his injured wife to the pull along and racked up a staggering 128 miles to recapture top prize in stage 8. Great week with a few twists and turns.

Congrats Steve Insley- Ft. Custer Stampede

Steve rode to a 7th place finish out of a field of 19 in his class for Off Camber and within just a few minutes of top 3. The results were so close that 1 minute separated 5th from 10th. Nice riding, Steve! http://www.raceservices.com/11/fc/050111_sst.html

Tour de Tutu Stage 7 Results

We have a new leader. Mike jumps to the 1 spot with Chad 3 miles mile out in the chase after helping a "team mate" recover from an injury. Meanwhile, Brian is looking to chase down Czar and is close enough to catch an errant, well placed snot rocket in the forehead if Czar chooses. Jerimie is trying to get the team car to slow down and toss him a beer while Steve is the only one on the team that actually strapped on a helmet and committed to race today at the Stampede. Interesting stage with many to go. Steve still sports the pink...for now.
