6 Hours of Ithaca

by Jerimie Ike

After planning to do the [Saturday] race at Big M, we realized late on Friday this race was actually Sunday! Knowing we were not able to adjust our lives, we scoured the race schedules for a Saturday event within reach to compensate. We decided at 7pm Friday to be victimized by Ithaca and so the story goes.

15 laps in the 6 hour event earned Brian and I a 3rd place team finish at a course where brakes were your friend, turns were every 20 yards and one glance off the trail results in a trip to the hospital. 2 laps (and guessing 15 years of age!) separated us from the youthful 1st placers (1 lap from 2nd) yet we put 3 laps on the 4th place finishers from Rochester Bike Shop.

It was a great day for racing and a solid way to put 40 race miles on the legs.
